Overview

Coupled radiation modeling in CFDEM is achieved using 2 sets of models:

  1. Adding radiative heat transfer to the coupling with the LaEuScalarRadiation force model, and

  2. Adding an Eulerian based radation solver, currently the P1 radiation model: P1CFDEM which is configured with: a) the absorptionEmissionCFDEM absorption-emission model, and b) The constantScatterCFDEM scattering model.

The models work in tandem to provide the radiation heat transfer coupling between the CFD and then DEM while solving the radiation within the system.

Restrictions

Radiation modeling is limited to solvers that implement both heat transfer between particles and fluid and which are compatible with radiation models (e.g. cfdemSolverRhoPimple).
